A modern grand strategy game

Iron & Treasury — Forge power. Shape the world.

Every budget line is a weapon. Run a modern state where tanks, ships and squadrons are paid for with taxes, bonds and trade — and a credit rating can fall faster than a front. Lead one of 19 nations from 2026.

The Steam page is coming soon. The wishlist link will appear here the day it goes live. Watch the war room

The promise

Two sources of power

Every nation stands on two pillars — and the treasury pays for both. Neglect one and the other falls with it.

Iron

The army, the navy, the air force — and the industry behind them.

  • Armies, fronts and divisions on a living war map
  • Air campaigns, air defence networks and pilot schools
  • Naval task forces across 44 sea zones
  • Special forces and a defence industry that takes years to build
Illustration: a desk with a map and gold coins overlooking a capital at sunset.

Treasury

The budget, the debt and the trade that pay for all of it.

  • Budget lines, debt-to-GDP and a credit rating the markets watch
  • Commodity markets: oil, gas, steel, copper, food, lithium, advanced chips, rare earths, gold
  • Trade agreements, supply corridors and the cost of a blockade
  • A war economy where mobilisation is paid for every single week

Win the war and empty the treasury, and you have still lost.

  • 19 playable nations
  • 44 sea zones on the map
  • 1 deterministic simulation — every result explained
  • pauses the moment a decision is yours

The Treasury

Every budget line is a weapon

Iron wins battles. The treasury decides how long you can keep fighting — and whether there is still a country worth defending afterwards.

  • 5 budget lines, from education to R&D
  • 9 traded commodities, from oil to rare earths and gold
  • 67 technology nodes across the core and defence trees
  • 9 cabinet seats to fill

The annual budget

Set the share of output for education, infrastructure, energy, defence and R&D, then tune the tax rate and who pays it. A year-end preview shows growth, inflation, deficit and debt-to-GDP before you commit.

Markets that answer back

Oil, natural gas, steel, copper, food, lithium, advanced chips, rare earths and gold are priced along the bottom of every screen, next to your national stock index. A blockade, a war or a bad budget moves them — and they move your economy.

  • Oil
  • Natural gas
  • Steel
  • Copper
  • Food
  • Lithium
  • Advanced chips
  • Rare earths
  • Gold

Cabinet meetings

When the deficit grows, your ministers bring options to the table — raise taxes, cut spending or keep borrowing — each with its price spelled out. You decide; the scorecard remembers.

Economy dashboard

National goals with deadlines, the one constraint binding your growth right now, labour and migration, and your external position: current account, imports, external debt and energy dependence.

Year in review

Every year closes with a scorecard — GDP, inflation, unemployment, debt, credit rating, stability — the sentence that explains it, news from the world and a watch list for the year ahead.

Industry & technology

A core technology tree from industrial base and chip design to advanced lithography and fusion research, plus a defence tree. Research money is finite, and a science adviser tells you where it is stuck.

Trade & supply corridors

See where your oil, chips and food actually come from. Supply corridors draw your critical routes on the map, show who you depend on and what a blockade would cost.

War economy

Mobilisation is paid for every week: reserves called up, civilian output lost, a blockade's bite on trade. The GDP cost of a war sits next to the front, not in a footnote.

The war room

Inside the war room

Every screen below is a real in-game capture from the current development build.

War map & fronts

Armies, fronts and objectives on one readable map: two-colour front lines, movement arrows and clean unit chips. The Operations Summary tells you, engagement by engagement, why the front is moving.

The battle card

Open any engagement for the full picture: both commanders, the terrain, the force ratio, every division on each side, reserves and each modifier that decided the week.

Air power

Fight for regional airspace. Air superiority, air defence networks, sortie rhythm and pilot fatigue decide the skies — along with the pilot schools you funded years earlier.

Sea zones & task forces

44 sea zones drawn on the map. Select a task force, click a zone and give it a mission: sea control, escort, landing, shore fire, anti-submarine hunt or raid.

The intelligence agency

Run the Strategic Assessment Agency: pick its chief, fund its branches, send missions. Reports can be wrong — each one carries a confidence label, and you can ask for a second opinion.

Special forces

Land, naval and air special forces with their own commander, readiness and training pipeline. Send teams on reconnaissance, target-marking and counter-infiltration missions straight from the war room.

Diplomacy & proposals

Governments send you offers — trade, defence, research, exchanges — as illustrated proposal cards. Accept, decline or defer. The game pauses the moment a decision is yours.

Crisis scenarios

Start in a crisis instead of at peace: escalation ladders, coalitions and ceasefire lines. Scenarios are fictional interpretations of parties and regions and do not represent the intentions of real governments.

Nations

19 nations. One world.

Lead any of 19 playable nations on a world map of 165 countries. Each starts with its own economy, armed forces, alliances and country identity.

Development

In development — Early Access planned

Iron & Treasury is in active development at an independent studio. We plan to launch in Early Access on Steam.

There is no release date yet. When the Steam page goes live, the wishlist button on this page will light up.

  • Deterministic simulation: the same decisions lead to the same results, and the game shows you why
  • Your hand on every lever: budget, cabinet, diplomacy, intelligence and command
  • Built for long campaigns, starting in 2026
